My Strength cosplay from Black★Rock Shooter!
Through the relentless destruction of my house and a bit of fairy magic, I somehow managed to finish this whole thing in under a month lol.
The dress, collar, and hood are all made from some black suiting fabric I had from another project I never finished. I made the patterns for everything myself since they were pretty simple. Everything is lined, which I'm super proud of since usually I have rough edges at least somewhere lol. For the gloves(not shown) and socks I used black lycra. The white bows are all a white jersey knit I just had laying around. The white flame patterns on the collar are iron-on vinyl from craftvinyl.com/ (I swear by this stuff it's AMAZING and no sewing xDD)
The shoes were a pair I bought off eBay that I added cuffs to the top of and a white stripe (not shown) on the front.
The wig(also not shown) is a Jareth in silver from Arda Wigs I cut and styled myself.
The arms are made entirely out of poster board foam. I think by the end of it I had used about 24 sheets of the stuff lol. I basically just assembled the shapes I needed using hot glue. To seal the foam and fill in the edges where pieces were glued together, I put two coats of wood sealer on the foam, then filled in the seams on the edges using bondo and glazing compound (the wood sealer prevents them from eating into the foam edges). After that I put a final coat of wood sealer on, sanded the whole piece and painted them. I just did a coat of flat black, then sponged some silver on for a more metallic look. I painted silver "paint scuffs" on the edges too. After they were painted, I added the fist decals on the fronts with some sticker vinyl.
The way I assembled the hands, the fingers are rigged with some fishing line that I can pull and they move! The fingers and inner arm pieces are also removable for easier transport to take to cons.
